Filing a writ of mandamus with the court typically doesn't “piss off” USCIS, but it can be seen as an action that expresses frustration with the agency’s handling of your case. A mandamus petition is a legal tool used when someone feels that USCIS has unreasonably delayed or withheld a decision on their immigration case, despite it being past a reasonable processing time. It asks a court to order USCIS to make a decision. Some officers can be power-tripping and would not care to attend to the case even after the writ of mandamus
Here’s what you should know:
1. Legal Process: A mandamus filing is a legitimate legal process and is often used when other means (like inquiries or requests for expedited processing) have not resulted in a timely response. It does not “punish” USCIS, but rather forces them to take action if they are legally obligated to do so.
2. Impact on Your Case: It’s unlikely that filing a mandamus would negatively impact your case directly, but depending on the circumstances, it might prompt a faster decision or at least a response. That said, USCIS is still bound by law to act by regulations, and filing a mandamus is part of your legal rights if you believe they’ve violated that duty.
3. Potential Delays or Pushback: While rare, in some instances, USCIS might respond to a mandamus petition with a stronger push for additional documentation or scrutiny. But this would be a formal process and not something driven by personal animosity.
in your case I think filing a writ of mandamus is not enough to get your case approved, if could contact me directly I will suggest to next doable action to take for your case to get approved as soon as possible, Have a good one.

@Hughes Walters Writ of Mandamus is appropriate at this time. Many cases are approved within 4-8 months. OP has been waiting for years.

Did you ask you attorney, what he said? That's why some people prefer to file as pro se, that you can monitor the case on your own... youtube search "writ of mandamus pro se" to learn more

I believe USCIS can ask for additional 60 days after the mandamus deadline.
