My i-485 status just got updated. I am unsure of it's good or bad. Anyone?
We are temporarily pausing work on your application because an immigrant visa number is not immediately available to you. Once an immigrant visa number becomes immediately available to you, we will resume processing of your application. PLEASE NOTE: In the event that you have submitted a valid transfer of underlying basis request, then this Case Status Online message does not mean that USCIS has paused work on your application.
Our systems do not currently have the capability to automatically update the receipt of a transfer of underlying basis request or Supplement J at this time. The message will be updated in Case Status Online, however, after USCIS takes some other action on the adjustment of status application (for example, issuing a request for evidence, transferring the application between offices, or approving the application). For more information, please see the Fiscal Year 2023 Employment-Based Adjustment of Status FAQs page.

sb bbAug 7, 2024
your country? @Fez H
Analytical OAug 7, 2024
@Fez H What country are you from? My guess is that probably the 7% quota allocated to your country has been exhausted this fiscal year.
Fez HAug 7, 2024
i am from Pakistan @Analytical O
I am surprised because the priority date is current (Jan 12, 2023). how can this happen
Fez HAug 7, 2024
@Charlie SC I have no idea about that
go greenAug 7, 2024
yes like "Analytical O" said, your country quota within ROW available visa may have been used up. You are probably going to be attended to by October which is the new fiscal year. Also you can chat Emma and ask for live agent to explain further.

Do they even distinguish within ROW for different county for 7%? never heard about that
No imageAug 7, 2024
I thought it should go to different column once any country exceeds 7% for EB + Family combined. I could be wrong though
Shah FahadAug 8, 2024
was your case moved to a FO or no ?
Fez HAug 8, 2024
@Shah Fahad how do we know that?
Shah FahadAug 8, 2024
By talking to a live agent through Emma.
Fez HAug 8, 2024
@Shah Fahad
I talked to an agent today. I just asked about the status being pending while the pd being current. I was told that pd becoming current doesn't guarantee the availability of a visa and that the USCIS "needs to process" my case.
i am not sure what that means but I suppose they must be doing some additional processing like a background check or something?
Shah FahadAug 8, 2024
Talk to them again tomorrow. Ask them what is the location of your case. They will tell you if it is field office or NBC. It is strange that the visa is not available and PD is current.
Fez HAug 8, 2024
is there any update on your case? seems like our cases are similar
Fez HAug 8, 2024
does FO or NBC make a difference?
Shah FahadAug 8, 2024
Yeah it sort of does make a difference. But still not very clear. No update in my case either.
