My experience traveling on advance parole.
Good day. I'm sharing my experience traveling on advance parole. I traveled back to my country—I hadn't been there for four years—to see my son. My lawyer advised me against traveling, but I went anyway. It was so nice to be back in your home country my son was so happy both of us crying like baby in the airport I was so happy to see my boy after so many years. The experience was so simple.I spent a month there and returned through JFK. I went through secondary inspection and was asked what category I filed under. I told the officer VAWA. He asked if I knew the risks and if my lawyer had informed me; I said yes, she told me it was up to the CBP officer. He stamped my passport and told me to have a good day. That's it. I wasn't scared at all because the Bible says we walk by faith, not by sight, and I wouldn't let fear hold me back. Oh and i was only there less than 2 mintues..

where is your country and what airline did you travel with @tiana Barton

Jamaica. I took Delta Air Lines from Seattle to Atlanta and from Atlanta to Jamaica. Coming back, I took JetBlue from Jamaica to New York, then home.

Hi, Did you overstay your visa before applying for vawa?
Jasmine RahmanJun 12, 2025
I really want to travel. I have no crimes but I did overstay my visa by 3.5 years. That’s why I’m scared to travel.
tiana BartonJun 12, 2025

a valid parole is as good as green card y’all.. as long as you’re not a criminal. it’s legal document. I used it so many times before I got my green card.

also, visiting your home country in between your waiting time is such a mental relief. it reduces the frustration of the long wait drastically, esp the almighty vawa waiting lol. once you go and come back.. it unlocks a different level of happiness and the rest of the waiting becomes a peice of cake.

@lwl e facts. so true I was so happy mentally, psychologically it was a breath of fresh air.

I will back at lax airport is it have any problems
momo hamJun 13, 2025
@tiana Barton reason I ask is because I go Jamaica all the time and the only time I had a officer question me was when I went to JetBlue terminal but if you go to terminal 4 when they land in the night you don’t have no issue last time I went to Mexico and the JetBlue officer was really rude
tiana BartonJun 13, 2025
@momo ham yea they questioned me too like they were CBP officer. but i know I will not travel with jetblue Airlines. on top of that they lost my luggage and when they found it I had to pick it up at the airport smh. never again
momo hamJun 13, 2025
@tiana Barton yeah typical JetBlue but if you do. do a night flight that lands after 11 I do it 6 times never had a issues went to Jamaica 5 time last year
tiana BartonJun 14, 2025
@momo ham ok thank you will try that next
Tanya johnJun 16, 2025

my niece was born last year but I’m really afraid to leave because last time one of the officers was harassing me really bad and I just went to my home country because my nephew died 😔
