Must READ “Roll Back Date” on Greencard
Guys couple days ago I posted how my resident date on my greencard has “12/22/2018” this was the date listed on my I-94 when I was admitted into the country. The date didn’t reflect 2/13/2025 when my greencard was approved. However a Tier 2 officer called and told me in certain cases they do a “ROLL BACK” on issuance dates for some VAWA or Asylum cases and in my case I got a rollback date and in that case am a Legal Pernament Resident for 6 years 👀. So my next question to him that since I have been a resident for 6 years ( even though my greencard just got approved this year ) am I eligible to file for Citizenship. He told me I certainly can and that he will email me the requirements needed to file my N-400. So guys check your Residate Date on your greencard to see if you receive a RollBack date as well. My next step is to now file for citizenship 🫶

rollback is usually 1 year not 7 😀😀… like asykum Gc are rollbacked 1 year …this is definitely a mistake on USCIS part and most definitely not going to fly during your n-400 interview…

@i l that’s why I waited until a Tier 2 immigration called me to confirm cause I taught it was a mistake. I won’t go posting until I got actual facts from them. I told him am traveling on the 19th and wanted to fully confirm cause I don’t want no issues coming back. He explain to me it’s not a MISTAKE hence the reason I ask if I can go ahead and file N400.

@i l In the USCIS context, a "Tier 2 Immigration Services Officer" is a sworn Immigration Service Officer (ISO) who has access to case details and is authorized to resolve inquiries that Tier 1 staff cannot, often contacted by phone or email.

this is interesting

@sweet Lins I don’t think so. Tier 2 doesn’t know what he is talking about. if you receive your green card this year, you are permanent resident since this year for citizenship purposes. that’s what I think is true

@survivor p I receive this year but they have me in there system as PR from 2018 he even sent me an email on the requirements needed to file my N400.

@sweet Lins tier 2 officer is a “costomer service” level officers. they are sworn in and they have access to your USCIS A-file, and regular USCIS agents don’t. tier II officers are NOT adjudicating cases and they don’t have in depth adjudicating knowledge, since they do not need that. n-400 interview officer are the top lvl IO at USCIS and #1 thing they are looking at is how you got tour Green Card and if you even supposed to get one. I recommend you reading adjudication guides and do some research fyi and do your own DD, just to make sure that you can ask right question! good luck and i wish you to become USC asap. also, i think by applying for n-400 the worst case will be that you will lose your fee(around 700 i think) but if your GC is actually rolled back 7 years(unlikely) they will interview you or RFE you ….

i lApr 1, 2025
@survivor p usually yes, but Asylees for example get a 1 year “head start” and your GC is rolled back 1 year and you can apply in 4 years for your naturalization. so if you got approved on April 1st,2025 , you will get a GC Resident since April 1st, 2024, but 7 years is a nonsense thing. also, USCIS makes sooooo many mistakes and it’s so mich harder to fix a mistake than. getting an initial grant…like i-90 for GC replacement takes over a year….

@i l interesting, I didn’t know about “rolled back” at all. but yes, I agree with you, 7 years would be ridiculous

well I would say USCIS officers should know their stuff otherwise they wouldn’t be working there. Congratulations and may you get you citizenship fast, it’s your blessing after all you went through.

@i l I’ll do it. I didn’t pay a dime for VAWA the Catholic Charity helped me. I couldn’t afford to pay no lawyer. If there is a price to pay for the N-400 I’ll pay it. I will keep on updating you guys

@sweet Lins yes you are 💯 correct. I have a friend who had 1 year rollback and would file for her citizenship in 2 years instead of 3 years.
