Moving with pending i-485
Is there anybody out here who moved to Puerto Rico while waiting for their interview to be scheduled? It’s been almost 10 months since my case is “ready to be scheduled” for an interview (spouse of US citizen). After my research, I’m almost positive that it shouldn’t be a problem to move to PR since they have an office in San Juan and all the rules apply to them as they do on the mainland but I’m looking for somebody with a personal experience. Thank you so much 🙏

Simona just sent the information before you moving to PR, like a month before or so, and enjoy la Isla 😎 anyways, for sure because you moving they will delay a bite more your interview but nothing else.

Simona I am in a similar situation, were you able to go? I don’t have my travel authorization yet. I called USCIS, TSA and US border all says it’s a domestic flight and it’s a us territory so I should be fine but I am trying to be extra careful. please let me know

hey Hajar! I spoke to a USCIS representative and she confirmed that all the rules apply to Puerto Rico as well so no problem 🙏 I haven’t moved yet but at least I got my interview done in a meantime so I’m thankful for that. We should be definitely moving in a couple months so I can keep you posted.

one more thing, I wouldn’t travel without the authorization I think that’s too risky but call them or chat with them to see what they have to say.

I called the USCIS , TSA and Us border all said it’s okay it’s considered a domestic flight. I am only going for 3 days for now. my lawyer said there is still a risk but all officer said it’s okay. I am very confused! thank you for your response!
