Medical RFE
I just received a RFE for my I-485 application as I did not submit I-693 (medical form). I am wondering if there is anything I need to know before scheduling an appointment with a doctor. Are there any specific things to look for in a doctor? If I do not have all required vaccines, what would I need to do?

Nothing to worry about the doctor already knows what they have to do, if more vaccines are needed they will let you know. remember to get a legalized doctor for this process not just any doctor

@Immigrant Worker it cannot be any doctor. it needs to a be doctor from the USCIS link they provided. you can download the form I-693 to see which are the required vaccines

Safety check and delay minimizer: First book appointment with department of health, do all tests with them (like free), if any health issues, have them give you all the treatment (like free) before booking your appointment with a surgeon general. that would save you money, time and procedural delay that may come from the surgeon general if any of lap tests where to return positive.

there are recommended civil surgeons every where you are. check on the USCIS page. pick one out of the many. they always know what to do once you get there and tell them it’s for immigration. they are meant for such purposes.

the letter you got from USCIS it will have all the information including surgeon doctors. you just need to find any surgeon doctor close to you

most doctor ask to pay because for this work they do not go with your insurance. I called my insurance and claimed with with receipt. if you have annual physical check pending for the year, better to do that first and ask PCP to include these test so most of these test are already done for you. also ask PCP to complete required immunization required for immigration medical. this way all these will be covered already for you through insurance. once you have the record, then go for immigration medical with all your reports, immunization record etc.

alternatively you may directly go to these immigration doctor. they will ask your immunization records. if you do not have then they will perform blood test to ensure your immunity. also, if anything is found positive then they usually refer you to some doctor for treatment . a proof that you started treatment for some health issue if anything is found will be attached by your immigration doctor.. that’s all pretty much they do. having a medical problem does not mean that it is the end. USCIS just want to know your medical status and that for any existing issue listed in their form you are or will be taking treatment . that’s all. immigration doctor will provide you and guide you for everything you need so that they can give you the filled SEALED copy. remember not to open the SEAL Of final report. that is the most important part. you may ask doctor to give a copy of report to you.
