Marriage Greencard approved in 8 months
PD March 23 2021
Our interview was this past Wednesday, I was super nervous as I always am before any important event. We basically over prepared which I’m grateful for. We created a whole binder with copies and originals of our passports, drivers license, I-94, birth certificates, my I-20’s because I in F-1 visa status. For additional documents we took our joint tax returns and our individual tax returns, 6 months statements of our joint credit card and 3 months statements of joint bank account, our joint Heath insurance documents and copies of our insurance cards, my husbands most recent pay stubs, itineraries of airbnbs trips we took. We also too a photo album with over 50 questions.
As for the interview, the officer greeted us, we did the oath. She asked for our passports and state ID’s looked at them.
She directed the first question to my husband
1. Asking him where and when he met me, his response was as a mutual friends birthday party, she then asked who was the friend and he answered.
2. She asked if we have a lease I told her no, that he moved in with me. I live with my aunt and uncle so he moved in with us.
3. She asked me if he had any Nieces.
4. She asked us to say each other’s full names.
5. Asked me where my husband worked when we met.
6. Asked me what was his mothers name, I told her. Asked If I met his parents I said no because they don’t have a great relationship. Then she followed up with if I communicated with his mom any other way and I said no.
*she did not ask me any security questions*
She followed up with asking if we have any joint stuff to submit, I gave her our tax return and one statement for our credit card and bank account. I did tell her that we had more statements if she wants all and she was like give me whatever u want. So I gave her the most recent one of each. We also submitted our insurance info and copies of the cards. Then asked if we have photos and she took like 3-4 pictures and gave the album back. She then told me to get up and sign a piece of paper which I did and gave me a paper which say that interview was completed and application is held for review.
My husband and I left, I started to feel bad wondering if I should have given her all of the statements, I even forgot to give her our itineraries. We then went to a restaurant to go each and relax, where my husband jokingly said that it’s probably approved already so I should check. I wasn’t going to listen to him but I checked and there it was say that “new card being approved”
Word of advice: over prepare and practice questions. My husband and I know each other very well but we still covered everything and reviewed. My assumption is that she saw all that we had brought and decided to approve us.
