Marriage Date / Religious Date
Hi everyone,
I want your advice as people who already filed their application for marriage based green card. The I-130 petition has a marriage date and I was wondering what date to fill in the application. We religiously got married on August 26. We had our wedding reception on the same day and have all the wedding materials / pictures on this day too. However, we got legally married and registered our marriage with the county a month later. So in our marriage certificate it is written as September 22. The legal marriage was small and nothing special was done except signing the certificate.
If I provide any evidence to show our bonafide marriage then it’s on 26 August. Which date is more recognised for USCIS? Is it the legal marriage date or our religious marriage date.
Appreciate your help. Thank you!

It’s always going to be what the marriage certificate says, that’s the date recognized as legal, September 22nd .
