marriage based interview
today I had my marriage based green card interview and everything went well except officer said they need to do a background check and that might take somewhere between 2weeks up to 2 years ! but they approved our marriage and he said once he gets the background check he Will approve the case . is it typical to have a background check after interview?

There's another member who is still waiting his background to be clear. Unfortunately, it takes longer than 2 weeks. Hope you have your good news soon.

did you guys ask why so long? Is it due to Covid or could be due to the country of origin? and if it’s 2weeks to 2 years how is it that some peoples status changes within hrs? it’s all so confusing

@waiting. Most of the time is because the country where they are from. But can be only a simple background. I've heard a long long time ago that you could call FBI and ask if they can expedite the background. Not sure if still works or not.

the only thing that i think of to do a second background check is because I received my EAD card in October and started working since then and we applied last year this was changed from the time that we applied for i485!
