Mandamus lawsuit to card in hand!!
I finally received my green card after 660 days 🙌 I’m glad I filed mandamus lawsuit otherwise I don’t know how long the wait would be. I reached out to congressman twice and state senator twice. All I got was just generic responses. Nothing helped me. I didn’t even get EAD and couldn’t work since my work visa expired in Nov 2022… I’ll share my lawsuit timeline here. Hope this helps you who are thinking to sue! 😁 2/8 Lawsuit on file 2/15 All the defendants were served (deadline for USCIS decision set 4/15) 4/2 USCIS scheduled us for the interview (they extended deadline to 5/9) 4/22 Interview 4/29 I-130 was approved 5/9 USCIS issued RFE (they extended deadline again to 7/9) 5/31 Reply to RFE 6/15 I-485 was approved 6/27 Card was delivered The interview was 2 hours long… First 45min was with my husband and it went smoothly. Then the officer let my husband go and left me alone for further interview. He asked me so many questions about my immigration history like my previous job and how I got the work visa etc (I came to the U.S. with J1 visa. I went back to my country once and came back with E2 visa) RFE was about my previous job and the visa. I also had to submit all the W2 I got past 5 years and paystubs…

@jannat munni Thank you!! It was $5300 including filing fee. They offer $500 discount if you pay all at once. I opened new credit card account to pay for this because I wanted the discount. I’m in debt 💸😭

@w s 🇨🇦🇺🇸 I’m married to a citizen who was born in the US. According to my lawyer, the person who has some visa histories tends to get more questions from USCIS than the person who just came here.

@w s 🇨🇦🇺🇸 Really! But not every one gets many questions from them. Depends on the officer who checks your case. I had just bad luck lol.

@Tina C I filed November 2022 and got my I-130 approved sep 2023 still waiting for the I-485 decision.I reach to the congressman this month and got a response from USCIS that my case is under review with an officer no estimate time to be completed but they assured the give my case full and fair consideration consistent with all applicable laws, rules and regulations that they has not been forgotten about my case.At the end gave 120 days to submit another inquiry if there isn’t any correspondence or decision by then.

Congrats! For people who cannot afford an attorney, there is option, to file as pro se, meaning by yourself, do youtube search to learn more "writ of mandamus pro se"

@Ismael YG It’s been already 10 months since your I-130 got approved! You should proceed to mandamus if you still don’t get approved in 120 days. Hopefully your approval is coming soon 🤞

@Cerj Raj Thank you! I didn’t know I could file mandamus by myself when I filed. I could have saved $4800 if I knew it…
