letter witnesses.Do they have to send proof of citizenship or Residency together with their Testimony o just the letters ?
Hood afternoon ,guys l hope that you are doing well .l got a question :Can be a page or half page of affidavit of witnesses ,l got two people ,but they don’t really know it they have to write something briefly or it has to be one page completely or two .Do they have to send proof of citizenship or Residency together with their Testimony o just the letters?

@Magic Magic Just the letter with a photo ID, in this case a passport. It doesn't have to be a big letter! It can be something brief and summarized.

ID is not a prove of legal presence. In most states illegals can obtain ID or DL

@Magic Magic I will tell you my experience, for one of my witnesses I only sent the letter and passport.

@Magic Magic the letter doesn't have to be a specific length but it and a copy of their ID must be notarized. They don't need to prove citizenship to write a letter as a witness. Bear in mind they are writing on your behalf so the more information they have the better it is for you. Writing that you experienced abuse in a half a page won't capture much. They can write as many pages as it takes to explain your situation. If you don't send enough convincing evidence, you're going to have to respond to a RFE later so be very thorough and send as much as you can the first time. My lawyer ensured that with me!

When I submitted mine, I didn’t get their ID or proof of residence. you know why? for any document to be notarized, the person must present a valid government id and sign the document right in front of the notary. So for such document to be presented anywhere, the person receiving already knows the person must have showed their id in the first place. If the people witnessing for you are kind enough, you can get the photocopy of their id and attach it to the document. No need of residency because your witness can be from another country just someone that knows about you and your spouse.

no need to send a proof copy. get a draft from your witnesses and send it to lawyer he or she will turn into a proper language

you don’t need proof of citizenship or residence at all. A valid photo ID is all you need. I have done it before

One of my witnesses was a visitor from another country who didn’t live here. you do not need to submit anything other than a notarized copy of their statements/ testimony. that’s what I did for my case which got approved
