2 lawyers told me that applying for i-765 EAD for derivative at this time should be fine…i’m hesitating because I don’t want to waste money on it if it will only get denied.

@ivy chi maybe check with your lawyer first. In your case, are you the principal applicant here? To my understanding, if principal’s i-485 is denied, EAD is automatically invalid or if expired, cannot be renewed until i-485 is reinstated.
