L2 to GreenCard
Hello, My company is sponsor my Green Card. I have an L1-A but I have to take care of my family processing (wife and kid) . Does anyone knows if the filing should go together with my L2 or if I can fill and send the forms myself? I'm ok with doing it but I dont know if there are real risks of processing it separately. Is it possible to file separately? Is the process for L1 and L2 independent? Thanks for any.advice.

hi it would be good idea to ask ur firm to process them all together and u pay for your wife and kid… it’s unnecessary hassle filing on ur own and then tracking everything separately from urs

So the process could be done jointly or separately? It is actually a lot of money.

My question is, how to relate theirs to mine if I do it myself. Im fine to track it separately really

I don’t think u need to relate it.. if you are primary you will fill in your details for the dependents .. all those basic stuff .. and that should suffice .. that is how Uscis will track .. one thing I am not sure about it if they will get directed to different service center or not .. then the processing time may differ ..

are you talking about green card forms?

I'm talking about the necessary forms to turn my family's L2 into a Greencard given the fact that a lawyers office is taking care of my L1A to become a Greencard. I'm very good at following processes and I have no issues on spending 5-6 hours a week on this. Yes, I'm concerned about the processing time difference, IF that can be different between a jointly filing vs independent.

you can do it, you just need to pay attention to ensure all the info is filled correctly. Anyway L2 or L1A and green card application are two separate processes

Hello all. I wanted to tell you that we've got the greencards for all. Overall process was 1 year and I filed separately. Mine was done by the company and I did my wife and kids (saving roughy 7k). No mistakes from my end. The only advice I'd provide is, read the instructructions provided by USCIS which are very clear and comprehensive and compare with the one filed by the lawyers.
