Joint Tax filing : Recovery Rebate & Stimulus Check
My husband filed for joint tax return and recovery rebate after I received my SSN on Sept 2021.
Visa status: H4 EAD
Been in US since March 2020
Husband received his share of full recovery rebate and stimulus check amount. But my stimulus check amount was not sent.
Am I eligible for stimulus check?
Or if anyone facing the same issue.

I have the same question. My ex wife and I filed our taxes separately since we had issues with the first stimulus check and we are separated as well. I have a job now and a SSN. Can I claim my stimulus check money next year?

@KA S, if your are not a permanent resident (Green cardholder), you have to prove substantial presence test per IRS to be a resident for the tax purpose to get those rebates . I don’t think so you meet the resident criteria as you are just recently in the USA (year 2020).

when you say substantial presence will that be for year 2020? cause I read it has to 180days or more for the filing year. i am in the US from March 2020 and have not left US since then.
so for the year 2020 I have been in US for 10months.

what documents I need to submit to prove my presence in US for the said amount of time

There is a formula to calculate days for substantial presence test available on IRS website.
