Does anybody know if I can provide my indvidual tax id nr for work, or is it prohibited? i dknt have social yet. Im in process with I730. An employer told me that he can pay me through ITIN, but when I google it, says i can not work. could anybody help please?

you are allowed and can have a itin and pay taxes using it, But it is not used as a job authorization.

Your employer would have to classify you as a 1099 contractor, instead of a W2 employee. SO yes you can get paid with ITIN, but it’s not work authorization as GC said.

An ITIN, or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, is a tax processing number only available for certain nonresident and resident aliens, their spouses, and dependents who cannot get a Social Security Number (SSN). You can apply for an ITIN any time during the year when you have a filing or reporting requirement. At a minimum, you should complete Form W-7 when you are ready to file your federal income tax return by the return's prescribed due date. An ITIN does not provide legal immigration status and cannot be used to prove legal presence in the United States. An ITIN does not provide work authorization and cannot be used to prove work authorization.
