Is it called I-824 because of the days it take to complete?
My attorney, who generally has a good reputation, unfortunately made a terrible mistake with my case and marked the I-140 as AOS instead of consular, when I EXPLICITLY asked for consular processing. I learned about this only when the approval notice arrived, so they proceeded to file an I-824 to move my approved case to the NVC, and I'm still waiting to this day, outside the US, wasting time and without a chance to enter with a B2 in the meantime because of course I have intent to immigrate.
He and the firm never apologized for this.
Today is day 292 of extra waiting, courtesy of my lovely attorney.

@Zig Zag seriously? so you're now waiting for both of them? Or you did premium processing on the new one? Can you share a timeline? That's sad man... these "lawyers" are supposed to help us but they do more harm than good

Oh I get it, it's advise but you didn't do it cause you're in too deep. I mean, I'm on day 300 almost so another 100 days is still less than a new I-140... so we'll still wait for it

@Nahuel Prieto Galardo. sorry you are going through this but this is a classic example of trusting attorney too much. even if you hire attorney, ALWAYS check/read your petition. even the prestigious law firm hires paralegal who do the paperwork. and the paralegal are barely completed undergraduate. ALWAYS read your petition before filing.

@desiboy delhi yeah it's good advice for those who haven't filed yet, listen to him

If you have a valid B2 visa, you can get in the country and apply from within.
