Interview wait times
Just got my O1 approved today. can anyone shed some light on the process after this. Official letter not received yet. I am in Australia and the Sydney consulate shows 180 days wait time for appointment (all other non immigrant visas other than student and tourist). So would I have to wait 6 months? or O1 category could also possibly have lesser wait times? Also if the consulate is closed due to Covid will I have to wait for it to resume operations to schedule an interview?

congrats! I’m from Malaysia, and I got my stamp in Abu Dhabi. You should look at that, you can expedite your interview appointment and they’re quick

I am planning to schedule appointment in Singapore. will they mail the stamped passports to Australia? or the consulates do only local delivery of documents.

hmmm, I’m not too sure about that cause I usually stay out to collect my passport. In Abu Dhabi, I got my passport the next day from local post office. I believe they might have an option to mail stamped passports to Australia

@sc thinking about Abu Dhabi. Did you have to get a visitor visa for Abu Dhabi to go to the consulate ?

I’d recommend that - my bf recently got his from Abu Dhabi as well. I’m Malaysian, so I don’t have to get a visitor visa for Abu Dhabi. but other nationalities might need, you should check their immigration site.

was yours and your partners categories O1 and O3? I ask so because I ve been calling different consulates and seems like there are not many apply for O1s.

we are both O1s. all you gotta do is fill out the DS160 form then go to the embassy site to schedule for an interview. I’m happy to speak to you via email if you’d like. as far as I’m concerned, you can go as a family to the consulate. but you and your partner might have to submit a separate DS160 form each to schedule for the interview.

we ve already submitted DS160 and paid the VISA fee in India. we re now planning to go to Singapore for interview as it’s closest to us. but we re concerned if my wife’s visa stamping gets delayed for her O3 we won’t be able to travel back to Australia without the passport. do you know a solution for this? do they allow us to post them the passport after the interview instead of giving it directly to them at the interview? That way we can get back to Australia and mail the passport for stamping.
