Interview in Rio today
I had my visa interview in Rio today and walked away disappointed. They accepted all of my documents and the interview itself was fine, but they said that I was missing original certified copies of my husband‘s divorce decree. This is nothing that they’ve not asked for before, according to my attorney. My husband gathered the documents and sent them off UPS overseas expedite at a cost of $153. The documents should arrive on Friday morning, but who knows when they’ll actually look at them. Very saddened by this as I was hoping to be in the US by the end of February.

Tudo vai certo bem rapidinho! Tô esperando pra minha esposa. Ela está em SP, e este processo tem sido muito difícil. Se Deus quiser, eles aceitarão seus documentos muito em breve

@Sabrina Dias what they ask you?

Your lawyer should have advised you to send it originally. It’s even in the uscis instructions that you need to send certified copies of all divorces.

Well, considering this is consular processing, then the most accurate information should come from the US consulate in Rio interview information. It says nothing about certified copies of his divorce decree.

@Sabrina Dias my wife is waiting to come to USA. she is also from Brazil. She wanted me to check with you regarding your Rio interview. Was it in Portuguese or English. As she speaks both, but prefers Portuguese. Was this given a option for you? I am also sorry about that document issue you had. I will pray it gets rectified and resolved soon for you! 🙏

The interview was performed in Portuguese. I speak some English, but not well enough to participate in an interview. as far as the document, it was received today by the CASV it was supposed to arrive Friday, but due to the holiday it was not delivered until this morning. my husband sent a information request email, but has yet to have a response. He’s going to be here in Brazil at the end of next week, and was hoping to be able to buy a ticket for me to come back with him.

@ Sabrina Dias thanks for that information. so the officer is okay you speak in Portuguese only. So also my wife doesn't do the best in English but prefers Portuguese. She is worried she might have to do the whole interview in English. So, you got to choose what language? is that correct? I will keep you and your husband in our prayers! I pray it all works out and we are excited for another Brazil / USA couple. 🙏🙏🙏

Yes, you can choose which language. Where in the United States are you located?

@Sabrina Dias , my wife will choose Portuguese and I am located in Minnesota, USA.

I did it in Portuguese also. I hope your wife has an uneventful interview process. One tip for you is that you need to bring originals of every single document that you uploaded to them previously. For example, my wife did not have my divorce decree even though it had been scanned and uploaded to them and even though it had been approved by USCIS. it was not among us of things that the consulate said she needs to bring.

@Sabrina Dias, maybe my wife can contact you via your Instagram, as she is gets anxiety for any interview. Thank you for the tip. I am visiting her in Brazil in April and I have to bring my documents with me back, as she gave them to me during Christmas. I have a apostate certified copy of my divorce decree. We do have a lawyer and she has all our scanned copies uploaded. So we are praying one of these days we get approved and can move on to the next step. Seems like it's random pick and choose who gets approved sooner than later. There is no method to there approval process. Thanks so much for the advice and we also wish you guys prayers to getting united soon! 🙏🙏
