as I used to get J1 visa I got ssn from last year right now I’m waiting on my cases based on marriage, honestly I’ve been working since then until my case get ready to schedule for an interview on Oct,01 of course they might ask me if have you work illegally? my work permit was done on Sep,2020 and I’ve been using my ssn to work and pay for taxes after I married. I filled I-485 the question yes/no that asking me if i work illegally i put ‘no’ on that time because I was unemployed but right now I’m working what should I tell them? please give me some advises i just want to be preparing

always you have to say the truth. Nothing dangerous on saying yes to work illegal, we all know to survive you have to work, they will understand, that's what my officer said on my interview. Best of luck.

no need to risk, it will be more dangerous if they find out you are creating a lie, that's why be honest so they will support it

working when illegal is forgive when married to a US Citizen. LPR is a little bit risky.

if they ask you did u work illegal just explain it and tell them wen u applied u said no bcoz u ddnt work illegal then bcoz of financial reasons and had to …being honest might help u

your dealing with a government agency, they know everything, they check with other agencies also and have connection to those agencies. best to be honest. if you have ssn what's illegal? your SSN says on the card or DHS has not approved you to work in the USA or off campus at your educational institution. is this the case with your SSN?

@Car B I came here with work and travel program from last year i did extend my visa but it wasn’t approved then I married with US citizen on this March
