Interfiling vs waiting for RFE
I noticed that USCIS is looking to avoid unnecessary RFEs and is now urging people to submit medicals at the same time as the I-485. I didn’t do this when I filed in Dec 2020. My question is: should I try and interfile my medical or wait for an RFE? If I interfile is there any danger that it causes additional delays as they try and attach it to my file? Ultimately what do you think will lead to the smoothest, fastest process?

I’m in the same boat. USCIS recommends waiting for the RFE or interview to submit the medical if it wasn’t filed with the AOS application.

Thank you for asking this question. I'm equally in need of the answer...

interesting. With USCIS prioritizing employment-based adjustment of status it seems like there’s a good chance of having our interviews waived. I’m just worried that not having my medical on file could prevent this from happening.

I would say go for it and interfile... I have seen several cases now where USCiS has accepted it.

You can interfile, but if you get an RFE in the meantime you may have to get the medicals done again. If money is not an issue then go for the interfile…it can’t hurt! Worst that could happen is it might not get attached to your file and in that case you will receive an RFE anyway…..
