insurance while waiting for AOS GC
Hi all, Got a question here. is there anybody that is adjusting their status through marriage with USC and without ssn yet can be added to their husband insurance who works for the federal employer? My situation is I am 25 weeks pregnant and my husband cannot add me on to his insurance because his company gave the reason that he is a federal employee and for that the dependent need to have a ssn first. and i am not qualify for an emergency medicaid as well because his income is higher than the limits (not even for emergency for pregnant) and nothing came up in the marketplace because look like we do not meet in any criterias. I see some of people without ssn and in the same status with me are added to their partner’s insurance so i am a little confused .. so just because my husband works for the federal thats why they are more complicated? so is there any other people whose partner works for federal but still manage to get added on the insurance without ssn? thank you.

My daughter doesn’t have ssn and she is on my husband’s insurance. They did advise him to get her a ssn and get it back to them (before they knew we started adjusting the process).

You need a good health insurance agent.

@J P where can i find them? what do i have to search on google? thank you

google “health insurance agent near me”. Call and explain your situation, they will be able to help you. agents can do almost magical things and it does not cost you a penny more. If you don’t mind me asking, which state do you live in?

I have a friend who lives in anchorage, he said he used Aurora Insurance. He said there is nothing in fairbanks. He got Blue Cross, you can also google them and check for agents. You might need to get a private insurance before hopping in that federal policy. also, as you are pregnant, I’m not aure if they’ll cover birth… I think a marketplace plan would but it doesn’t look like you qualify. call those guys and check, they will find something for you.

@sam sam. thank you so much Sam. you give me hope :) and i actually just found the mistake i did. when i apply for marketplace i ticked myself as a non-immigrant. so i was not eligible for any insurance. now i just go back and edit it and send them the evidence of my Noa1 and I94. now its showing something to me. lol was all my mistakes 😛😛😛. but still thank you so muchhh

Visit your local human services or social services office, they have some ways and non government organization to help those people without insurance.

@sallie Hi Sallie. i live in Alaska. i just got Blue cross blue shield from the insurance marketplace :) they dont need ssn. i just have to send some documents like noa1, I94 to prove them instead i am not qualified for medicaid because my husband income exceeded the guideline, i wish i can though because the bcbs is pretty expensive still. :(
