I know many people are curious about my process, so I’d like to share my experience here.
After my I-360 was approved, USCIS sent me an RFE (Request for Evidence) for the medical examination required for the I-485. I completed the medical exam and submitted it on my own without my lawyer’s help, using express delivery to speed up the process.
About one month after USCIS received my medical documents, they scheduled an interview. Please note: the interview notice did not appear on the USCIS app, so make sure to regularly check your mailbox for any updates.
At the interview, I was asked a few questions about my previous relationship and the breakup. The questions were not very in depth just ask how long you been together stuff like that, so reviewing your I-130 form in advance might be helpful. After that, the officer went through the I-485 questions, which were mostly “yes” or “no” questions. They just wanted to confirm and review everything.
In my case, things were a bit different because I had also submitted an I-601 waiver. Before approving my case, USCIS needed to review the waiver. For anyone applying for VAWA with an I-601 waiver, I recommend reviewing your I-601 thoroughly as part of your preparation.
For those who do not have or need an I-601 waiver, a decision is often made right after the interview on the same day or tomorrow . Usually they just said they will let you on the mailbox without giving any specific details of how long that you need to wait.
In my situation, I waited about two weeks after the interview and finally received my approval. I’m happy to share that I am now finally green.

@Bogata Wigge I mentioned it on the last paragraph of the most. I won’t let you know right away, they would say 3-4 weeks but mostly when they come out they just approved it or tomorrow

for your interview, was your 485 transferred to home field office ? did you have your interview ( Crim son) in your state, ( Bogata ) how about you , will your interview in your field office?
the reason I am asking, Uscis didn’t update my online account for RFE medical, time was out , however I mailed them my ref , 67 days passed no any update again. I am scared , maybe they sent me interview notice again without update my account.
but my 485 is Charlotte office which isn’t my home state?

Responded to RFE on October 23rd and interview scheduled for Jan 28th.
I think holidays affected my timing.
What specific question did they ask about your spouse?
Birthdays and so on?

@hope hope @naomi bushira the latest update on my case shows case was transferred. I am confused because on the letter it says my case was transferred to Nebraska. However, I originally filed my I485 to Nebraska service center. It didn’t show online that my case was transferred to my field office. But, my interview will be at a local immigration field office.

congrats, for me it was diferent i received the notification about an interview but not for the RFE so my lawyer send it to my email. i have an interview on jan 6 wish me luck. ( i dont need the waiver so i hope they approved me that day)

this gives me so much hope. i am going to submit my I485 and I601 in a month or two. i was getting sad seeing that the waiver takes 33 months to be approved. @crim son
