@Shari I think it’s a mistake from your lawyer, your lawyer supposed to receive I-797C and you supposed to receive I797.I have seen my attorney receive I-797C after my approval and I received I-797

The I-797 and I-797C notices are both issued by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), but they serve different purposes: 1. **I-797 Notice of Action (Approval Notice)**: This is a formal communication from USCIS to notify an applicant or petitioner that their application or petition has been approved. It's often called the "approval notice" and is used to convey positive news, such as the approval of a visa, adjustment of status, or other immigration benefits. 2. **I-797C Notice of Action (Receipt, Rejection, or Request for Information)**: This is more of a general notice and can serve several functions, including: - Receipt notice to confirm USCIS has received an application or petition. - Rejection notice if the application is incomplete or improperly filed. - Transfer notice if the case has been transferred to another USCIS office. - Request for additional evidence (RFE). - Appointment notice for biometrics or interviews. The **I-797C** is typically more informational, while the **I-797** is more specific to approval or other actions on an immigration application.
