i-601 waiver of grounds of inadmissibility question:
for anyone waiting on a waiver for the i601 waiver of grounds of inadmissibility, did you as well go to a consulate interview appt outside the country and was told by an officer that you needed to do an i601 waiver? if so, did the consulate officer give you a blue form that states on there ineligible until certain date for example, mine says “ineligible until June 2022” yet, on the form it does say to apply for the i601 waiver. my lawyer says it’s just waiting to hear something but im wondering if I’m the only one who received such form.. been in Mexico almost 10 months. reciept date is August 2nd. basically what I’m asking is did anyone receive similar form and still had it process before that “ineligibility date”. I’m in desperate need to go home, my younger sibling is sick and I need to go be with him as I’m really close with my family, I’m also a certified medical assistant and I do think my medical abilities would help my sibling right now with his health😓 if anyone has had a similar form please let me know. I did have someone ask for me on Facebook (since I don’t like Facebook and or any social medias) but everyone has different opinions on it and what it could mean and honestly I don’t need opinions because all that does is worry me and makes me anxious on what they’re saying the ineligibility date could mean, i just need to know if someone has been through the same thing with this waiver, and if so, please share your experience .. Ty in advance.

hello @D V i got a 601 approved las week after 8 months waiting . and yes i did go to my consular interview in Ciudad Juárez where I was giving the blue form. although mine didint have the “apply until date “ written on it . I received the blue form may 2021 and a month later we filed the waiver, received date was July 6 2021 and approval date was March 14 2022. I hope soon you hear great news i know the waiting part is very challenging when you have family that need you .
V ..Mar 21, 2022
thank you @Ariel Rayo, I’m sure you understand too well the frustration and this feeling, I’m not understanding why the heck mine has an ineligible date until June 2022 on it, I’m wondering if they’re denying my expedite requests because of that. i appreciate u breaking down the dates for me to get a better idea of how urs went, helps alot . gracias :)

@D V oh for sure it’s definitely one of the hardest things ever but we have to stay strong. I quite don’t understand why exactly they did that on yours to be honest maybe it’s because of how backlog they are so they are giving themselves time to process old cases before new ones come in idk. but no worries blessings to you .
V ..Mar 21, 2022
@ariel Rayo I think it’s easy to go crazy in this situation especially when u have nobody in the country u have never been to, like in my case never been to Mexico since I was a baby.. but thank u for ur response helped a lot. blessings to u too.

Hi @D V My husband had to take a voluntary departure back to Mexico in April 2019. His interview in Ciudad Juarez was May 21, 2021. He was advised to submit a I-601 waiver and given the blue form, as he was in the US illegally over a year, 15 to be exact. He came to the US as a teen. There is not a place to upload it here but I was going to share it with you. The only date our form shows is This inadmissability will expire after 2028. We did send his I-601 waiver and it was received Aug 30 2021. I sent an expedited request in Nov and it was denied, not enough evidence to support expedite. Now we are just waiting for the regular processing. He has been in Mexico almost 3 years now, when he spent most of his adult working life in the US. It has been hard. I really hope we hear something soon and for you to hear something soon.

I got biometric on March 2020 Still in my status in April itself you are written The Notices was returned to uscis because the post office could not Be Delivered it.What could be the problem if it is written like this?

This question is exactly what we are going through.
we mirror your case exactly until you mention in your statement about the lawyer. 1st allow me to explain I did all my own paperwork. Filed for waiver August 13th, Did receive blue form and our ineligibility date is December. Our dates are close. But basically what it means is this if your Waiver is denied then in June the grounds for your Ineligibility are removed therefore your now eligible to receive an immediate Visa. If your waiver is approved then that's what it is you're approved and now you're waiting for the Visa to be issued. Hypothetical of what i forsee happening. Right now they reviewing cases from July by the time they get to review cases in August say around April. Sayyour approved. By the time you get the visa it will be close to June. Going through the same thing I just wanted to get my wife here a little faster if our waiver is not approved then she comes in December I was taking a chance that it would be a shorter time perior.
Good fortunes to you and your family.

@DV did they give you a reason for ineligibility? I am in the same boat. I applied and got approved i601a in the US, came for my interview in Juarez Feb2022 it got denied bc of medical marijuana use, given 1 year ban to “maintain sober” was told I have to take monthly drug testing from the medical office, got the blue sheet which says I can take my medical again after 2/20/2023. i got left behind in Mexico. my kids and husband are back in NY. im currently applying for i601 waiver. im wondering if I can submit evidence to being “sober” before 2/20/2023. how long are the i601 waivers taking?
V ..Apr 8, 2022
Hi Anahi,
I’m actually still waiting on the i601 in Mx. they gave me no reason for the ineligibility date but I’m thinking it’s because I had a misdemeanor 9yrs ago maybe..? i mean honestly don’t know I came to my interview june 2021 and I got the blue paper with an ineligibility date until June 2022. I tried to expedite 3 times now and my last one was approved, then denied a few days later. I’m not sure if the inelegibility date is the reason why my expedite is being denied. tried talking to an immigration officer over the phone and they said not to resubmit an expedite request because they will keep getting denied, cold blooded.. not sure why the officer would say that if everyone has the right to submit expedite requests. i just received a letter back home and per the letter it says they’re taking 11 months right now on i601 waivers. my question might be similar to urs, not sure if we have to wait until the inelegibility date to hear something regarding the waiver or if our waiver will start getting processed until after the inelegibility date, etc. i have a lot of questions and none answered, my new lawyer doesn’t even know the answer to these questions ☹️
Anahi RamirezApr 9, 2022
@DV I see. yes I have a medical ineligibility date of 2/20/23, and was wondering the same about the request to get it expedited. it makes sense that it gets denied bc of that date. I’m also waiting in mx for the i601 waiver to get approved. I’m able to take my medical again after 2/20/23 hopefully soon after that and with the i601 approval I can get an answer if my visa is approved!! good luck!!
V ..Apr 9, 2022
good luck to u too, know ur not alone, I know how unsafe mx can be and how being alone
in mx without ur spouse feels as that’s what I’m also going through. take care :)
