If you can’t afford it now can they set up a payment plan for you? I’m curious, how much are they charging just to attend with you? and did you have a lawyer you used for VAWA? that lawyer may charge less. ( good luck with your interview )

If they invited you for interview, it means something is not really right as a VAWA Applicant. I will advise you to get a lawyer that will charge lesser amount btw $500 - $1000 to represent you. If you cannot secure the money, go alone. Remember to correct this mistake in “yes or No” questions. If you were married to US citizens,( your abuser), say yes to where they asked if you have worked before without authorization. This is where most applicants make mistake. This is bcos USCIS can verify if you have worked without EAD before . Remember to read your VAWA Declaration .Remember how the abuse started and all events/incidents that occurred. I wish you good luck. You should be good. If the interviewer asked you where is your attorney, let him/her know that you could not afford what he charged to attend the interview with you

@GOD HAVE MERCY What do you mean? Most of the green card applications have interviews! Are you saying there are generally no interviews if you applied for a green card because his VAWA is already approved? .

I will be having an interview as well this coming Tuesday. my Lawyer cannot attend with me coz of his condition. But i will go alone and have an interview. you can do the interview without a lawyer. don’t be afraid God is with you. make sure you are ready and know everything what is in your Vawa and I-485 just answer what they ask you and that’s it.

@GOD HAVE MERCY that is not true, you can get an interview for any reason and not necessarily because there was something wrong. @Kings kay see if you can get a probono lawyer they should be free or for a minimum fee of less than $500. if not just review your i-360 form and personal statement (make sure your dates align) and your i-485, remember if you had answered any questions as “no” but is in fact “yes” make sure to let rhe IO know you have adjustments you need to make (this include traffic violations and citations, arrest by any law engorcement not just ICE, and if you’ve ever worked without authorization) for any citations or arrest take copies of the proposition with you to show the case is now terminated or resolved. make sure to answer truthfully they already have your history lying to them will cause your i-485 be denied. thank you all. I am grateful to read your views. I do not have any police case, no arrest nor criminal charges. I also have answers in my first i130 interview that I never worked without authorization and will maintain same. I will try as much as possible to get a Lawyer but if that fails I will appear alone. I really and truly went through hell here due to my ex. she was a terror to me especially once drunk or needs money to drink. from threat to forcefully taken money from me. At a time she insisted we go to atm to withdraw money and made sure the last $400 in the account was taken. The left home to appear again four days after to ask for more. I was happy it ended honestly. I hope I get a favorable decision.

@Kings kay go in for your interview alone if you can’t afford lawyer interview is common now under this administration but they are going to ask you just the normal yes or no questions on form I-485

@Ena 22 so for me, when they approved my vawa last May, they give me an interview notice last July 30 and it scheduled on Tuesday September 16

@GOD HAVE MERCY I’m just wondering where you got that information from to have the boldness to spew it on black and white creating fears. It is standard to have an interview on ones AOS application. Some Vawa petitioners are fortunate to have it waved while others are not and it’s not because there are issues with their petitions but just a procedure to go through the standard question and answer on the AOS. Pls don’t stoke fears on people. We are all going through more than a lot right now that some are barely holding up. Your statement is baseless, unfounded and not true.

@Kings kay don’t let anyone drive fear into you, God will be your guide, I did my interview in New York though it’s been over a year now, I went by myself because my lawyer lived in another state, I had no doubt about getting my GC I went with confidence and boldness, they ask nothing about i360 only yes and no questions from your AOS application, don’t go sell nothing for no lawyer. God brought you this far he won’t let you down trust that he got your back. All the best

kings kay I have interview for 485 scheduled in 2 weeks and my lawyer wants to charge 5000 to come with me in a interview I told him I can effort that money I found another one who charges 500 to come with me

this is very stressful and lawyers make it more difficult for us but god is in control 🙏🙏

thank you everyone. it most likely that will appear alone. my first interview during my marriage, I didn’t go without a Lawyer. The Lawyers are not ready and I will do this alone.

I went last week with no lawyer, I wanted my lawyer to go she charged $500 and she told me save my money I will be okay. She was right I was approved 5 minutes into my interview. It all depends on the officer that take you for interview.

the lawyer won’t be there when they interview u ,you will be asked things you wrote in yr 485 ..!!I did everything without lawyer ofcos I ddnt have deportation order if you do then u need a lawyer..!!

@mamou mamou if your lawyer charge you like thay don’t go to your lawyer. Go to your interview alone. Just review your AOS and VAWA if more questions if not do not. you don’t have to, i am one of a vawa that has interviewed with AOS without a lawyer but i passed it. so you don’t have to go with a lawyer go alone is fine.

@mamou mamou don’t waste your $5000 for a lawyer. The quedtions of the interviewer and s not that hard.

@dac ja i don’t really know if they will ask the child but i don’t have any child of me im pretty sure the questions will be in the Adjustment of Status. if their is something that it change to your questions that are answers yes or no, just be honest to say it and give an evidence that will justify your answer better review your AOS and VAWA if they ask more but if you have no criminal records or anything you will be alright

@Kings kay so i bring my duplicate copy of my I-765, I-485, and I -360 that’s are my vawa,work permit and AOS papers then i brought my foreign passport, ID and work permit if you have. and also medical report that’s it. but none of them was taken because she only get my medical report and that’s it. all of my papers from her are complete so she did not get any copy from me. but try to bring those as well incase they ask you and also your medical report the questions are so easy to answers coz my VAWA is approved already so they did not ask me anything they only ask me about my AOS and the name of my ex husband and also his birthday and that’s it.

update: just got back from interview. 1. I attended alone 2. They realized my derivative daughter’s file was not called up. so they will review it in a weeks time 3. I was given the white paper that interview complete and awaiting review most importantly, I was not asked any question about my abusive wife. not even one. it was all yes/no questions and when I came back last to USA and the visa type I came back with. so in my view, it was a very successful interview and I am waiting for the good news. probably after reviewing my daughters file. if you don’t have a criminal history, don’t spend your money on any Lawyer. Not needed.
