How do you find a sponsor to do the portability? I've asked many companies, but most of them don't accept to do the portability for me even though it's extremely simple.

theu just need to provide the info and they don’t even need to make a payment. you should clarify the information with them. they might think they need to pay for the case.

@green2023 g I've already said, I think since the companies gain absolutely nothing in return, they don't want to do this for me. And anything related to immigration, companies don't want to deal with. I already worked for six months at a company that said they would do the portability for me, and in the end, they said they wouldn't do it.

I see. I hope you can find the sponsor easily. It is so stressful. Also you can change state too. If any company would like to sponsor you

@Matt B I haven't done it yet, but it might be better to not explain it as something they need to do. Instead maybe just say you have to fill out this form because of your pending GC, so the employer just needs to give you some info for that form and sign, as a verification that you're actually working that job. Idk though, easier for them to just say no unfortunately.

if you find another sponsor, ask them to sign i485j first thing, then keep it safe

Never say that you need a new sponsor or that you need a portability. Just say that you are going through a process and at some point they might require some information about the place that you are currently working, simple informations like name of the company, number of employees…NEVER SAY SPONSOR, because first they don’t wanna know about it, second because the new employer will not be your sponsor.

@K RS My lawyers told me to request the following information from the companies I am going to apply to, do you have any idea if all this information is really necessary?

• Gross Annual Income
• Net Annual Income

@Matt B Just download the I485J form from the USCIS website and check if that list covers everything. You don't really need a lawyer for this form, since technically there's no need to file it unless requested. Just fill it out and keep it for your records.
K RSJun 29, 2024
@Matt B yeah, basically that, that’s why they will not be your sponsor, the I485J is just some informations about the place that you are working, your first employer was you sponsor, we don’t need that anymore.
