I485 J
Did anyone who switched to skilled positions had an interview after working for sponsor employer? Did you get the I485J? What was the interview like?

I think we can argue that it is temporary until GC gets approved - but I also think your offer from the unskilled sponsor still has to be valid - I believe that it could be a problem to have a J from a skilled sponsor but I’m not sure

@GB B I mean the 485J from the sponsor employer. Would it be ok without the 485J form at all?
GB BJul 29, 2025
if they ask for one during interview you should provide one @sam tam

@GB B I’m worried as my sponsor employer might not sign 485J since I’m not working

You should have i-485 J. That’s the main proof to show that you still have a sponsor.

@PD: Oct 2021 are you from BDV? did you verbally told you sponsor that you were quitting or you just said you would take a break? in case you have interview and they ask for the J just message BDV/envoy and tell them what do you need
GB BJul 30, 2025
@PD: Oct 2021 is that your first or second?

@GB B I did talk to my sponsor saying I’ll be back later and she agreed that I can come back anytime but never really followed up and it’s been 3yrs already. yeah from BDV, this is my 1st interview, my other friends are saying the interview is tough in Florida and that’s what worries me even though mine is in Texas

@PD: Oct 2021 what do you mean by “tough”? Could please share your friend’s experience with us? I plan to have my sponsor sign i485 J and bring a lawyer with me in case I have an interview, but other than that, I don’t know what to expect. I wish you the best for your interview.

@Just A Cat Waiting For GC By tough meaning, they’re asking lots of questions and interviews lasting around hour or more. Asking stuffs like how come you find this job in different state, requesting income statement, how many hours are you working, Lot of background questions as well like how you got to US. Things like that, seems simple but also depends on the interviewer I guess who might make you more stressed or nervous. Some my friends here in Texas has interview which lasted like 5 mins, few questions related to sponsor employer and few from 485 form. They said it’s simple, interviewer is nice. I hope it’s the same with me since I’m not working for my employer currently

@PD: Oct 2021 thank you so much, that is very helpful 🙏I worked for my employer for about 1,5yrs before taking long leave this Jan. I still got their approval to come back in case I got interview. Do you have your interview date yet? Do a lot of your friends got interviews? I do see they request more lately
