That’s a long wait, and I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. For F2A I-130 petitions, delays of this length are unfortunately occurring. While many cases are adjudicated within 18–30 months, some extend beyond that depending on service center workload and case flow. At around 920 days, your case may be outside normal processing time or close to it. At this stage, it is appropriate to: - Check the posted processing time for your service center - Submit a “case outside normal processing time” inquiry if eligible - Consider a congressional inquiry if there is no response One additional point that can be important: - If your spouse becomes a U.S. citizen, the petition can be upgraded from F2A to the immediate relative category (IR1/CR1) - This removes visa category limitations and can materially improve how the case proceeds, particularly for adjustment or visa availability - This level of delay does not, by itself, indicate a problem with the petition, but you are at a stage where follow-up is appropriate. I know this is a difficult wait, but there are still steps you can take to move things forward. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask them in our next Lawfully office hours session!. - Attorney Rami Lee (All information shared here is for general educational purposes only.
