i485 interview is about your background, criminal history, etc

if there’s some red flag about your immigration history then you might get asked about that. it seems sometimes they’re just random and then they ask you simple yes/ no questions.

According to EMMA I am getting an interview for the I485 with an approved I130, I’m assuming it is because I declared military history and having received weapons training

@I Turner when did you find that out? I wonder if I am getting an interview too… no weapons training here though lol. just accounting training.

@w s 🇨🇦🇺🇸 I had to ask through Emma, so who knows how accurate it is. I’m ex military, but it’s Australian military, so I’m not sure that’s big on their list. I also declared some overseas speeding tickets, so who knows, maybe they just want that all clarified

@w s 🇨🇦🇺🇸 I’m sure you’re not far off approval. And with the small amount of faith I have in Emma I’m not even sure I’m actually going to get interviewed…

from what I have heard she lies about interviews being waived (they could always be called for) but she doesn’t usually lie that you’re in queue for an interview. @I Turner she did tell me a week or so after 130 approval that my interview was waived but I don’t think anyone looked at my 485 😭

@Ata Asare i had the same situation. My i130 was approved but then was called for a i-485 interview. There is no issue, i had no criminal history or any tickets nothing. The issue was i had answer question 2 from the i-485 as yes when i should have put no, so the possibility is that there might have been a typo on your i-485 form. My interview was quick and easy. The officer only ask the yes and no questions and the other stuff from the i-485. Like where you got married, husband dob. He also asked to see our joint documents then i was approved the next day. The interview notice you received will tell you to bring everything even though your i-130 is approved so be sure to take everything as you will never know what the officer will ask to see

@Ata Asare you are welcome. I was just like you two weeks ago freaking out. Just go over your i-485 and see where you could have made an error. The hard part is already over as your i-130 was approved which means that uscis believes that your marriage is real and you have provided sufficient evidence. Just be confident during your interview and maintain eye contact. Once you enter the US with inspection and you have no criminal records your i-485 will be approved the next day after your interview. Also if you worked before without authorization say so it is forgiven if married to a us citizen. Don’t lie about anything no matter how small it is

@Dan A..... so after your advice, I went back to look into my i485 and I realized I made a mistake with one of the security questions. I should have answered YES... instead I put NO.... I am sure that may be the reason I have scheduled for an interview... anyways I am confident now with your help.thanks so much.

@Dan A I really appreciate your advice...... it's exactly how you said it..... my i485 was approved there at the interview. the officer said, my i 130 was already approved so he didn't need to ask anything about the marraige... so I had one of the fastest interview ever. thank you very much for drawing my attention to that security questions I made an error on.

@Ata Asare also keep tracking your case to see when card has been produced that way you can call uscis for your tracking number if it does not show on your account. Uscis left my apartment number off of my greencard mail luckily i was tracking it so i went to the post office to pick it up before they returned it.
