I need an advice please
my removal proceedings just got terminated and I was talking to my lawyer to proceed with adjusting my status and then he wants to charge me $3000 more which I think is outrageous. I am thinking I should fill my form myself Since the hard part as been done . but I need yall opinion on this . what would you do ? this immigration has really drained me that I can't even afford another lawyer with thier crazy bills .

think you should stick with the lawyer. see if he could reduce the price explain your situation to him.

what did your lawyer told you, did you ask him/her if is risky to do it yourself?

most people file their i-485 themselves once the removal proceedings is taken care of and get approve faster.
if you can fill out the form properly, submit the necessary documents you should be fine.

it is expensive i personally understand but the attorney knows your case and they take care of everything it is possible that you can do it yourself but you will worry about doing it correctly also since being under removal proceedings you want to put down the same information and not make a mistake

do it yourself if you willing to do research ( go to visajourney) follow the instruction on USCIS website. read read read and ask question. it really depend on ur comfort level. filing form is easy, to prep the evidences is the harder part. removal proceeding u need and have to have lawyer, filing u can do it yourself.
after my removal terminated and got the court order, my lawyer can kissed my ass lol. I did everything to reopen my I-485 case with USCIS until I got the GC 2 months later. my lawyer is unmotivated and lazy

@tia W . he is not trying to listen or reduce price . I think I am cool on him . I will research and be extra careful filing the form . plus me and my wife just had a baby on top of all this immigration brouhaha

@domino 23 lol yeah, some of those lawyers can kiss ass for real. they like to instills fear in someone’s mind. the lawyer that helped me to file I-130 made a whole bunch of mistakes on my application if not for God’s mercy. all the evidence we submitted to him, only 10% were submitted to USCIS until they sent us rfe. and he was demanding for more money we said no! and he must fixed and submit all the documents and evidence we gave him.
