Not a legal advice pls. I will say you should keep Vawa get married to him and see how the relationship goes, because we are human things can take another turn. Be wise when making your such discussion. Also, it might trigger suspicion in your next case.

my cousin was married file vawa, vawa was taking too long. she met another fall in love, had a baby stop her vawa remarried and filed marriage base. he started abusing her and her marriage base is in jeopardy so now she want to refile another vawa case and most lawyers telling her it's going to be very difficult to do so.

in the beginning it looks beautiful but the end justify the price, I will advice you to wait, if you know you have a genuine vawa case. I just got mine approved and I had lots who was love at first sight but today we are no more, if I was stupid to withdraw maybe I will be on my exit to my home country. if he truly loved you let him wait for your vawa to be approved.

Here is my advise, DON’T get married while your vawa is still pending because it will automatically cancel your application. Since he has met your family, let him pay your bride price if that’s a thing in your culture. You can live together and have kids but not legally married. Once your vawa is approved, you can get married. If the guy loves you, he will understand and supports you. Just my take

I suggest to marry him. Your VAWA will be automatically denied after you marry him but if your VAWA will be denial then your marriage doesn’t help you much. USCIS can say you married someone for papers only bc your VAWA was denied

Just wait it out, you’ve waited 2 years already. You filed in 2022, one more year. Marriage takes a turn quickly regardless of how y’all feel today. If you get approved in a year time then you complete your process. if your vawa gets denied then you file marriage base green card. Do not marry and end up voiding your vawa case then you get issues in your marriage and want to refile. not praying for any issues “love is great” but just wait it out!

@pinky AK I agree with most of what everyone else said. You're already with the man. By your admission you're both in love. You already have what you want from this. You can remain engaged, have a baby, whatever! Just don't get married and throw this case out. I was in a relationship after my marriage ended and he was willing to marry and file if I wanted him to. I didn't do it. First off, I'd have wasted all the money and legal fees I spent filing for vawa, and second, we're not together anymore so I'd have been stuck hoping he shows up for that second interview. After the abuse I went through, I didn't want to tie myself to another person. I'd wait for 10 years for vawa before I let someone file for me again. Do what your heart desires but you've been warned. I hope you listen!

@pinky AK if you get married before your VAWA gets approved it will be the same as you abandoning your case. I'm sure you trusted your partner before and then this happened. Be careful and if it's real love you can get married In a couple of years. You also posted that you're not in a great financial situation and filing a new petition will cost more money.

If you have good case in VAWA, better to waste, but if you don’t , do as you desire. However, you can’t marry another spouse when your VAWA is not yet approved except you want to terminate your VAWA Case
