@call me Sam I once married in Nigeria before I came to the states in 2017. my baby mama filled for the divorce and I got my copy of the judgement thru my brother before I remarried a US citizen in the states.

so your saying your case got denied because you didn’t send in proof you where divorced?

@tayo os was your marriage a court or traditional marriage and you shouldn’t have filed for a divorce back home instead you could’ve done the divorce here in the united state and that would’ve been easy process..if you did a court wedding yes you could’ve filled here but if it’s a traditional marriage or religious it’s not recognized here in the United state..

is your divorce decree verifiable online or in the court? Thsts the first thing. what kind of divorce is it and where was it done?

@tayo os if you get married, and you have not completely divorced, before remarrying again, uscis considers your second marriage as fraud and it is very serious. but if you can prove to Uscis that you are divorced before your second marriage, they will reopen your case

@shellyann Williamson Crosby ... you don't really understand what he's saying. He says he was married in Nigeria in his country before coming to the USA and doing another marriage. The problem is to prove to USCIS that he is divorced from the first marriage before remarried in the US

@king king yes I get that.. but I know for a fact that if you remarried vawa is no longer qualified for you, so I would just move on to this marriage now.. yes if he has to prove that he is divorced fine, but vawa is not gonna help anymore.. so go ahead and prove he is divorced and start on doing a different filing for GC that's all I'm saying @tayo os ask a lawyer and see just pay for at least one hour and I bet you the lawyer is gonna tell you the samething about getting married before vawa approval that your case will be denied.. ijs ask a lawyer and you'll see. or maybe @tayo os not explaining yourself properly to us. 🤷‍♀️ wish you all the best please go pay for an hour with a lawyer and you will get your answers

I have similar issue. was told that my divorce decree from my country is fake and it's not acceptable but if I have another one I can submit it. I submit same divorce certificate claiming it's original. I got denied. I appealed it, submitted within the 33 days deadline. uscis responded 3 months later that I did not respond on timely manner. I was told to respond and give then reason why I didn't appeal on time. but I did respond within the deadline. so I appeal again telling them that I responded on time that I posted the response to them 25 days later out of the 33 days deadline. I back it up with postal office date of posting it. they reopen it and next thing was my vawa was approved. I just got my ead c31 category last week.
