I got an email from NVC i don’t know if the welcome letter or not and it only got the case number. and when i checked the status it says in transit what is that mean and do I need to do anything els?

@tony a the means your petition is in transit to the embassy/consulate. Once it reaches there you will receive an email/ letter from the embassy with instructions for your next steps. Yes, can also start filling out your DS-160. Once you start the application take note of your application number. I suggest taking a picture of it because without it, you won’t be able to go back in without starting over.
