yes. call uscis and ask for infopass appointment. they will tell you that a tier two officer will call you to schedule a time. When the officer calls, they will give you a time to go to your field office to get the stamp. I have traveled in the past that I was delayed at the airport because the airline wasn’t familiar with I551 stamp. you need to bring your expired card and extension letter too.

Will the I-551 stamp be valid for 12 months or 24?

@Sherlock Holmes actually you can do it online. The only confusing part is that they say if you have the 797 notice and your expired card its fine, but it’s formulated in a way that makes you think you might also need the stamp… I have dual citizenship, do you think they can stamp both passports?

@John Smith I’m unsure how it works for dual citizenship passports - try taking an appointment at your local FO and the agent should be able to guide you but it’s always advisable to get the stamp despite having the receipt I also heard mixed reviews that some folks received stamps with 12 month validity while others received 24

Hi all. I am traveling next month and I have my expired card and my I-797. Do I really need to get the stamp too?

@M B It’s unlikely for you to get an appointment within a month. You should be good with your expired card and receipt notice

Are they going to ask alot of questions why you want a stamp? or how strict are they?

i traveled to Mexico and Dubai and had no issues with my extension letter
