i-485 RFE
Hello, I received a RFE for my i-485 which requires a copy of my birth certificate with my parents name. I do not understand this because I already had attached my birth certificate which had all information when submitting my i-485. Please advise!

Is your birth certificate in a different language? Also check if you filled the application with the name you have on the birth certificate.

Hey Hari, my birth certificate is split in two sections, left is in English and right side is in my native language. Name is same as my application.

Its kind of similar to what I have. They might have missed the details. But I would suggest you to get a certified translation and send them asap because everything with USCIS takes forever to process.

Hari, thanks for your response. My birth certificate is actually translated and certified from my birth country government. Is it possible that the USCIS might have missed to see my birth certificate as I submitted all the forms together for change of my status i.e. i-130, i-485, i-765, i-864, i-944 & i-131

Its very likely. USCIS mistakes happen all the time based on the case load they have. But there is not much we can do except sending all the documents in a timely manner. I filed just like yours.

there should be a version of your birth certificate that states your mother and fathers names, profession and everything. if it’s a foreign certificate check with the administration of your country of Birth

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country.html Search your country here and it will show you exactly what birth certificate USCIS wants from your country!

Taasre Kabr: that is exactly what i had from my country of birth. only difference was the certificate didn’t mention my parents profession. I called one of my friends who was in similar situation last year and is from same country. He submitted the birth certificate same as mine and didn’t have any issues!

hey @waleed j I got a RFIE for my BC too . so I replied back with long format BC issued from the approved authority which is listed on the official UCSIS Website. printed that page attached with the BC. i also included secondary evidence that is acceptable for my country of birth family registration certificate, hospital birth certificate and affidavits from my parents confirming my birth and late registration of BC. This was accepted and I am now ready for interview. hope this helps

Thanks guys, so this is what i am planning to do. Attaching following documents with RFE letter: Birth Certificate issued from county of birth, Birth Certificate translated in English certified and notarized, Family Registeration Certificate issued from county of birth notarized. that’s all the information i could gather regarding my birth certificate. I really hope they accept it!!

Cool. i would suggest to also print that official page which suggests the acceptable format of BC from your home country. my lawyer suggested that.
waleed jApr 6, 2021
Haich: you mean the information available at “Visa Reciprocity and Civil Documents by Country “ website?
