I-485 asylum based mandamus
According to the USCIS processing time tool, the normal processing time for an asylum-based I-485 is now 31 months. My case has been pending for 19 months.
Can I still file a writ of mandamus even though my case is technically within the posted processing time?
Has anyone here filed a mandamus under similar circumstances? I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience and the outcome.

@. . I’ve already been waiting 27 months and 6 days. Yesterday, I started writing my mandamus because this delay has gone on too long.

Yes I think you should. Average processing times is just one of the many items that a judge would consider. make sure you have exhausted other resources like getting help from a congressman, etc

I will file Mandamus next month. the processing time is getting longer every month so we'll never be "out of normal processing time"

@. . : You need to be outside processing time in order to file a successful Mandamus. If the processing time is 31 months, you need to have waited longer than that time. Else, a judge might judge would more likely strike down the suit with the reason that the case would be withing processing time.
