congratulations I am so happy for you, especially that I am in the same route myself. waiting for my priority date September 2016, I had a similar timeline to yours until now:)
Kay MahJul 11, 2024
Thank you @E A. You are so close! I am hoping the bulletin moves in September šš¾
E AJul 11, 2024
@Kay Mah what did they ask in your REF? i noticed they also waived your interview, is that common?
Kay MahJul 11, 2024
@E A The rfe was medical, it was not submitted originally. My interview was waived, I think it is becoming more common now. Most applicants are getting their interviews waived if their case is not complicated
E AJul 11, 2024
@Kay Mah yes I believe my case is straight forward too. I hope to see movement soon. thank you for the info!
Kay MahJul 11, 2024
@E A No problem at all. Hoping for the best for you
2021 2021Jul 17, 2024
congratulations! I feel like all of us f2b are forgotten and itās so hard to find a community that knows what we are going through. I am waiting from 2021 hopefully I get mine before 2030 lol ahah
Kay MahJul 17, 2024
@meet patel OMG so happy for you. Youāre approval is right around the corner. My case was transferred to the LA County Field Office and they moved super fast after my RFE got delivered.
Kay MahJul 17, 2024
@2021 2021 I felt the same way. we are definitely forgotten. Once my priority date became current I did a SR because my case was outside the normal processing time. That seemed to jump start them to start working on my case. Wishing you all the best.

@Kay Mah Hey congrats , i gotta one question , Did you applied for student visa before petition approval or after ??
Kay MahAug 27, 2024
@Guru Baa I was a student before my I-130 was filed. I remained in f1 status until I filed I-485
Rosie RegAug 28, 2024
@Kay Mah How much time it will take after you filed i-485 !!! student visa are usually 5 years its took you 8 years !! how dis you manage !!
Kay MahAug 28, 2024
I donāt think I fully understand everything you are asking (sorry) however, I will try to explain further. F1 visas are originally granted for 5 years, however a student visa can be renewed. You also do not need to have a valid visa (meaning your original visa can expire while you are still a student) in order to maintain valid student status unless you intend to travel outside the country while enrolled. I also went to graduate school so I didnāt just go to school for 4-5 years. Hope this helps

@Kay Mah yes sister im also in same boat, i just graduated this sep 2024 on f1 student visa , im on opt now for until nov 2025 , meanwhile my mom applied for me aug 2022 , so afte nov 2025 my opt will be finished so what should i do , give me an idea pls, do i apply for i1485 ? or just get in to another university for maintaining the status? you tuition will be expensive too for f1 , please advise ..
Kay MahJan 2, 2025
Thereās not much advice I can give since you canāt apply for I-485 until your PD is current on the appropriate chart. You should remain in status at all times though until you file for I-485 and it is accepted by the lockbox. If you graduated with a Bachelors, you can always do a masters degree (it was worth it for me and my career). Remaining in F1 status and paying out of state tuition is very expensive so I understand if that is not something doable. Iām sorry I canāt offer more help. Hang in there!
