I-130 Returned back to USCIS
Hi friends. I had interview about 5 months back for both 130 and 485. My I-130 was approved but mistakenly send to the NVC meanwhile I am adjusting status within the US. After several months on calling and requests, I was emailed last week by NVC saying they have sent it back to USCIS for administrative action.
Has anyone gone through this same issue before?
How long will USCIS take to continue working on it?
Since I had interview already 5 months ago, should I just be waiting on a decision or I will still have to go under review?
please advice.

@S R Hi, are you doing AOS or consular? I looked over you comments so I think you are doing AOS. Looks like you mentioned it was transfered to St Paul which is good. You have been waiting 522 and I just looked up the field office and it shows 9.5 months as an average time. Do you have a complex history with immigration and what country are you from? Many factors can impact times. Thet do not usually notify you which transfers. You can get an action email but it will not show anything.

@El Static I just looked into your situation for like an hour. This does happen and it can take awhile before it is fixed. Did you file the 130 and 485 at different times? Worst case, you can sue USCIS for their errors. Did you get a 765?

I filled 130 in Feb 2024, 485 and 765 in March 2024. 765 was approved and I have my EAD. I am adjusting status here in Tampa FL and do not require consular processing.
I had my interview for both 130 and 485 back in May 2025. 130 was approved in June but mistakenly sent to to NVC for consular processing. They should have just approved the 485 as well. now the NVC have sent it back to USCIS but I do not know what I should even expect at this point.
Status of 485 is still showing “Interview was scheduled” but I took this interview since May.

@Kingsley B its only 155 days since I filed & I'm doing the consular process but it's showing its at Nebraska….

@S R Things are now being processed faster. I’ll give you an advice. Take off your mind from these USCIS processing times. Based on luck yours can process faster. Do not stress up yourself thinking too much.
