I-130 Approved! What’s next?
Well, finally after 1 year and a half, the I-130 got approved. The case status haven’t changed yet, but following some good fellows advice here, upon getting the second active review notification, went online and found the approval notice on the docs tab. P.S: this was taking forever, my wife submitted an e-request last week, saying that’s beyond notmal processing time (even it’s not 😅 and the earliest we could’ve reach them at per processing time portal was AUG 23). on Monday got a notification that the request was transferred to the processing officer and yesterday the form got approved! Now, i know the I-130 get sent to the NVC. what happens there and how long will it take further? *Im abroad, Not in the US. even tho i have a tourist visa to enter the states. appreciate your comments and help

The case is sent to the NVC and you and your wife should get an email with the login information very soon, within a week. I got it next day after I130 approval. You have to login, make 2 payments, then wait a few days until the payments are processed, then submit the DS260 online application, upload the affidavit form with financial evidence, and upload the civil documents. Once all items are submitted, your case officially enters the waiting line for the NVC and they are very fast right now, taking only 2 weeks to review items. If all is good, they will approve you, meaning you are Documentarily Qualified "DQ". From there, the NVC works with the embassy in the country where the interview will be held to get that interview scheduled. Each embassy has different waiting times, you have to find others in your embassy and visa type to determine the waiting period. The embassies do not publish any data on waiting times themselves. Hope that helps, lmk if you got any questions.

@Y K that’s very helpful! many thanks 🙏🏻 one query tho if i may, please, tho i submit the DS260 straight after the payments are processed? or once the NVC approves the case?

@M K Sure, you need to do the DS 260 as part of the submission to the NVC. The NVC requires 4 items as their full submission: The 2 payments, the Affidavit of Support with the Financial Documents, the Civil Documents, and the DS260 Form. Once you get the NVC welcome email with the login info, you can login and you will only be able to access the payment portion on their portal. So, step 1 is just making the 2 payments. After you make the 2 payments, they will take a few days to process the payments. Until that happens, you cannot access the otger items described above on their portal. Once they process the payments, you will get full access to the other 3 items and you must complete them. Once you do all 3 and submit all 3, then the case is officially sent as a whole to the NVC. If you just complete part of the 4 items of submit only 2 or 3 of the 4 items, your case will not be sent to the NVC. You will see once you log in, it is very straightforward and everything is submitted online, there is nothing to mail.

@M K The I485 is for the adjustment of status process. I believe you are doing consular processing via Qatar? If you are doing the consular processing, the I485 is not part of the process. That's for people who are already in the USA and then got married there so they "adjust" their residency status having married a US citizen.
