I don’t understand what you mean as i485 needs a i130 or a i140 or another type of visa to go with the i485. the i485 is not something you can do without a visa application too. can you clarify what you mean so we can help?

My understanding that you are currently in the US, probably on F1 visa and married to US citizen or Green card holder who has already submitted a I-130 on your behalf. Now you wanted to submit I-485, and if you do so you will not be able to use your F-1 visa to return home. You can submit your I-485 and make sure you submit a copy of your I-130 with it. There is no fixed time frame on how long it will take. It really depend on your center and more on your local office. It could be as fast as 5 months or as slow as 2 years! Good luck

Thanks @ Adam and everyone really appreciate your response. yes, I’m in the US on F1 visa with I 130 pending ( it has been approved and sent to local embassy for interview) but the interview waiting times are more than a year which means I will have to pay more tuition fees to stay in the US, with my husband.

@ Xie you may also once you submit your I-485, notify the National Visa Center ( NVC ) that you are proceeding with the adjustment of status. You may also submit I-765 and I-131 along with I-485. Good luck!
