the average waiting time is 15.5 on the official website, once you have waited 16 months you can inquire about your case saying that it is outside of processing time, then you can ask congressman.

@hope fully @I H @sianZ 🙏🏾 don’t you guys think asylum based greencards are paused
oak beaverJul 20, 2025
why would I think that, just scroll down a bit on the app you will see approvals, there is no reason to spread misinformation
PA JoeJul 20, 2025
@hope fully Actually, you cannot submit an inquiry at 16 months, even though USCIS states that the current average processing time is 15.5 months. At the moment, you can only submit a case inquiry after more than 20 months and that timeframe keeps increasing.

@ I suggest you chat with Emma agent and ask about your case, why it’s not moving, since it’s already been 15.5 months. Most likely they will say your case is still processing normally and ask you to wait another 60 or 90 days and check back later. Take screenshots and save them as proof.
After that, email your congressman and ask for help with your case. Mention that you’ve already waited 15.5 months and there has been no progress. Also, make sure to clearly explain in detail what kinds of hardships you are experiencing while being stuck in this pending status. They will probably reply that they contacted USCIS and got the same answer: wait 60 to 90 days and check again.
At that point, you will have proof that you reached out to both USCIS and your elected official, which means you’ve tried all available options. If nothing happens after 60-90 days, you can consider filing a mandamus lawsuit.

I've been here twice as long and I've already asked a question, Congressman, another question and nothing works. All that's good is to forget and wait calmly.
