how long after I-130 is I-485 approved
hi. I applied for I-130 last December and I filed my I-485 with the court as I was in removal proceedings at the time. now my case has been administratively closed and I have just filed a new I-485 with USCIS.
Does I-485 get approved when I-130 gets approved even when they’re filed at significantly different times, or do I have to wait a long long time again?

i got approved on both of them yesterday 08/01/2023

Why did you file I-485 with uscis? It does not have the jurisdiction over your application while you are in removal proceedings. And you still are. Administrative closure is a temporary pause, not a termination or dismissal. You need to concentrate your efforts on getting I-130 approval. Then reopen administratively closed removal case and get it dismissed (usually it is "dismissed without prejudice" which just means the government can open new removal proceedings against you in the future). Then uscis will have jurisdiction over your I-485 and can adjudicate it... As of right now, uscis will administratively close your I-485 in a couple of months...

@Ice Cream nailed it. that’s the exact correct way to do it. you only apply I-485 with USCIS if your removal proceeding has been terminated and not admin closed. admin closed only take out the case from the docket but it’s not out from the court ( need to be dismissed or terminated )

@F A still waiting on I-130 approval so I can dismiss my removal proceedings. Until then, I don’t think they’ll adjudicate my I-485 application.

@F A oh my! congrats on the dismissal! I have so many questions for you rn bc I want to be proactive and dismiss as soon as my I-130 gets approved. I just can’t find any useful information online. pls share whatever you can on the steps you took to get it dismissed

@F A to be sure that I understand you correctly: you get your I-130 approval; then you file a joint motion with DHS and Immigration judge to dismiss your removal; then you contact USCIS to reopen I-485 application.
what is the content of that motion? do you have any resources that I can go use to prepare my motion?
