Hi everyone. I am Canadian and married to a US citizen. We applied in March 2024. We replied to a REF for medical and birth certificate. They received and confirmed on June 14.
How long do they usually take to reply to a REF. I am driving my immigration lawyer nuts with questions. My father died the beginning of June and I had an emergency parole but had to come back to the US for my own surgery. My uncle had since passed and my mother is in emergency tonight with chest pains. So life has been hard and I want to return to Canada. I know so many people out there are experiencing more stress and loss in their families and I am sorry to read so many stories. I would greatly appreciate some insight beyond my lawyers prescribed answers. Thank you

same situation. I provided my birth certificate in October 2023 and no movement on my 485. so it could be a week from now or a f*cking year. also Canadian. @Kingsley B

you have to do an @ sign and then it will notify the person that they have a response.
yes I got my EAD on the day of biometrics and then my AP took 11 months. I’m now at month 14 for 485 and 130

@Kingsley B - Also a Canadian. Applied May 5, ‘23. My BC was received on May 3, ‘24 and am currently still waiting on a decision.
I’m sorry to hear of your Father and Unlce. I hope your Mother is ok as well.
I hope we all hear something soon. The wait is really rough.

NBC they are the ones that have my file. They received it 25 days ago. Just waiting now. My lawyer said they will not interview us as they asked for the medical. I am frustrated. I own a home back in Canada that is just sitting there because we were going to do consular processing but then things changed.

@Kingsley B they can still interview you. they request medical from mostly everyone …
a RFE to NBC can take a long time to process. all you can do is wait since you’re still well within the processing time. wishing you a speedy process!! 🇨🇦

@w s 🇨🇦🇺🇸 - Mine was sent to NBC. Its weird though because they received it on May 3rd and then they changed the date to the 4th and added a green check mark. What does that mean? They reviewed it? 3 days after that I got my EAD approved. Why not just approve the I-485? I’m so confused 🤔

they received your RFE on the 3rd, on the 4th they actually attached it to your file and then they approved your EAD once they got through thr pile it was sitting in. Thats what happened to me with my AP except they received my birth certificate in October, date changed on RFE on May 1 and then May 6 i got my AP approved. the EADs and APs are approved at NBC but the 485 goes to the field office for approval. so hopefully your 485 also got transferred to a field office and they’ll get to you sooner rather than later. I have like 5 people I’m watching for all the time. I check this app because I’m really hoping I will see their/your approvals pop up.

The day I noticed the check mark I also noticed the layout of my online account changed. Mine is now split into two sections - EAD and AP and then the I-130 and I-485. Did that happen to you as well?
I still don’t have my AP though.
I know, I’ve been waiting for your approval too. Fingers crossed we hear something sooooooooon.
