for nvc document they will need u first to make the payment and then to upload first the form i-864 affidative and support with the recently tax return and trnascript then secomd Your civil documents like one passport photo, ur married certificate, birth certificate , first page passport photo , certificate of good conduct from the country u spent in more than 6months with ur original country certficate of good conduct too, so after the submit all and wait for nvc to reveiw all so if all accept the just wait for nvc to send u the appointment letter that ofcourse for consular processing

this only applies to cases that go through consular processing though right? for example, spouses that are living outside the US or had to go outside the US before green card is approved?

@MH Had what you mean by “certificate of good conduct” is it criminal record? and is it for the petitioner or the beneficiary ?

the list that @MH Had shared is for counselor processing and it is found on the CEAc website very well described what is needed. Also you need to translate the documents that are not in English ofcourse. You will need to also complete the DS-260 visa application online. The certificate of conduct is what also is referred to as the Police Certificate and that also needs to be translated if not in English. You will need to pay $120 for the Financial Affidavit step and $325 for the DS-260 for each applicant which then will allow you to start the DS-260 completion and uploading Civil Documents. To add if this is for a Spouse you will need divorce decrees or certs for the beneficiary or Petitioner if you were married. Lastly any criminal or court or military records also need to be added to the civil documents if applicable

@M A it is the Police Certificate and it is for the Beneficiary. He/She gets it from the country where residing and any other country resided more than 6 months. If you check the CEAC website it describes it in details what are the circumstances you need it from other countries

@M A yes its the crimnal record for the beneficiary and u have to know all the nvc document is for beneficiary only the form I-864 which is sponsor who is the petitioner

@R B yes the any country u have residing for more than 6 months u have to get the police certificate from that country and tanslate it , all docunment will not accept if its not included with the english translation copy.
