HELP!
please help me answer this question....my husband file joint tax with is common law wife in 2022 but he filled separately for 2023,2024.....and now at the nvc we need to input 2022,2023,2024....can we still go ahead and use the 2022 tax?????

personally I would turn in everything they ask for, you don’t want to hide anything from them and ruin your chances. not all relationships last forever, it’s life, they shouldn’t hold that against him

only the last year matters for the affidavit of support. you can give them the priors and explain the prior was common law. I just googled that this is possible in a few states but seems weird to me to file joint if not married @mrs bolton

Yes if is married filing separate. Some people do single to have more money back. We did married filing separate because I had some issues with my return from previous years.

please I have similar issue, my husband file single this year because we are having some marriage problems, how am I suppose to submit such to NVC as he was the one that petition for the kids. please advise..
