Hello everyone, I have a question about my SSC
I got approved for my I-485 last week and received my GC this week. Does anyone know if uscis will send me a new social security card in the mail or do I have to go to the social security office? I already have a SSC since I had DACA but that one says work authorization only so I will need a new one. I’m just not sure if they’ll send it or if I should make an appointment. Help please!!

just go to your closest SSN office or make appointment there, bring your ID and greencard. it will take around 2-4 weeks to get new SSN card without the restrictions one. good luck

@Miriam poehlman congratulations 🎊, just go to your nearest ss office with your gc so they can upgrade your card. best wishes, stay safe.

I received a new SSC in the mail about 1 week after receiving my GC without going to SSA. Had checked on I-485 to receive SSC.

I got my SSC updated one, as I had previously with restrictions. it took 8 days for me after receiving GC. Some cases they do send, so wait for few days and then you can do with SSN office. I would have done the same. Does not affect getting a job.

If you checked it on the I-485 form to be issued a ssn, it will be mailed to you

if you selected yes to receiving a green card in your application you will get your SSN in the mail within a week or two. my best advice is to wait the week or two and see if it comes on it’s own. if it doesn’t then yes you will need to apply for one which I believe can be done online. congratulations
