health care worker certification
can someone help me ? if you are a health worker that applied for GC adjust status (l-485) relative , no thru job offer , do you still need to get the healt care worker certification ?. is somebody here that works as a health worker ( physical therapist ) that didn’t apply for a work visa , Insted married a US citizen and came here for that reason and no for work reasons and now wants to work in her / his fiel ?

EB based is different than family based. Don’t mix them up. Even if you were doing EB as physical therapist or RN I don’t think you would need labor certification. I did schedule A nurses, I didn’t have to go through labor certification but only prevailing wage determination. So just follow the instructions for family based, make sure you’re eligible to work on your field so you can start working as soon as you receive your EAD

thank you @Sassy J ! I m concerned bc this organization that is doing my credential review asked me if I need to get my healthcare worker certification as well in order to get my license and I didn’t know what to answer

oh I see. Well, I’m not sure you will need that for family based. I’m wondering why would they need to put their nose so far in your career because you’re not applying through employment. But well if you can afford it take it, you might need it later, you never know. I’m the kind of person who like to have something in hand when I may not need it later rather than declined it and to find out that I need it now . I had to do a visa screen with CGFNS, it was costly and was valid for 5 years. I spent 1k for it. But it was required for my EB based application.
