Has anyone gotten married while their VAWA case was still pending?
Hi Everyone, My I-360 has been pending for around 850 days now. I’m now considering getting married, but I know that if I do, my VAWA case would be automatically dismissed. My main questions are: • What happens to my work authorization and travel document if I get married? • Has anyone had a similar situation? • How does the new marriage-based green card interview go? What should I expect? I have thousands of proofs to support the new marriage if I move forward, but I’m still unsure whether I should keep waiting for my VAWA approval or just start fresh with a marriage-based petition. For context: So far, I’ve received 5 Prima Facie (PF) determinations, and my work and travel authorization have been renewed for 5 years. Any advice or shared experience would really help. Thanks!

I think the minute you marry your vawa petition gets automatically cancelled. So does your work permit. About the new marriage you will have to be ready to get scrutinized thoroughly because they will want to make sure you are not in the marriage for papers since you previously had a case.

You are approaching the end of you waiting period. So I will advise you just wait and complete he process rather than starting allover and remember marriage is not love or assurance of a good relationship, what you share is what matters.

I would stick to vawa, because if you marry someone you’re starting all over and second you would have to leave the country when the time comes for you to interview for the GC and that’s a risk too because you don’t know when they will allowed you to come back

Stick to VAWA. You’re almost at the finish line.

wait it out!!!! I know that your new person is probably amazing and you want to start a new life. BUT the moment you get married you’ll be dependent on that person and her/his mood. Hopefully it’s truly a nice person bit people change, and if something goes wrong in your relationship and they won’t want to help you with papers anymore you are fucked ( excuse my language) you are so close to the decision. if you can just wait it out. also when going thru an interview they will bring up your vawa thinking you are fraud and you might have huge difficulties proving that BOTH marriages were bona fide.
