Has Anyone Filed a Writ of Mandamus Pro Se in Massachusetts?
hI filed my asylum-based I-485 in April 2023 and completed my interview at the Lawrence Field Office on August 26, 2026. My case is still pending.
I have made multiple USCIS inquiries and contacted Senator Markey’s office. USCIS recently confirmed that my case is under active examination and outside normal processing time.
I am considering filing a Writ of Mandamus on my own because I cannot afford $4,000–$5,000 in attorney fees.
Has anyone filed mandamus pro se, especially in Massachusetts? I would really appreciate any guidance or templates.

@God did how ? do you have any references

Your interview was in August, so you can wait until December to see if you receive a decision. Your interview was fairly recent, and your case is still moving forward. Just be patient and give it a little more time.

@LN Asylee Thank you for your response. I’m just tired of waiting—it’s been almost four years. The congressman’s office got back to me today, and USCIS said my case is still under active examination and is already outside normal processing time. I’ll wait until 90 days after the interview and see what happens.
