Guidance on Situation Needed
Hello! My wife is USA Legal Permanent Resident (Green Card). We both studied in the same university for our bachelors, clicked and decided to get married after being together for 4 years of university and further 3 more years of relationship together. Now shes filled for my i130 while we live together in Pakistan where she is doing her masters degree while I do my job and we live comfortably. We filled i130 in Sept 2023 and were expecting to have it approved by now and move towards the NVC and DS260, but it seems like backlog is huge. We dont mind waiting given that we can live together till we both can get to USA. My wife regularly visit USA and her family their every 4-5 months for 1-2 months and then comes back to me. Based on this situation I have following questions: 1: Given Trump may put Travel Ban on Pakistan, should this be concerning for my wife’s situation? 2: Can anyone guide how long should we expect i130 to take still? 3: Any other guidance on how can we expedite this process or if we cant somehow can my wife keep living in Pakistan with me?

If she is just a Permanent Resident, she must be careful because she can lose her green card as soon that they realize that she’s more time out of the country than living here. But as soon that she’s is studying I think it should be a way that she get a special permission to be out of the country, you can investigate about that. Processes for PR are around 62 months, and a way to expedite you case maybe could be if she became a Citizen, otherwise you guys needs to wait because even a citizen they ask for so many requierements to expedite a case and sometimes they neglected. This process is a lot of journey but just be patience and keep yourself well informed.
